私の さくぶん

私の　ともだちは　とても　おもしろくて　げんきな　人です。　なまえは　山田さんです。　山田さんは　私と　いっしょに　先週の　週末に　学生かいかんに　べんきょうを　しに　いきました。　

でも、　山田さんは　ひとりで　じゅういちじから　はちじはんまで　コンピュータで　あそんで　まんがを　よみました。　わかりましたか。べんきょうは　ラフォーチュンで　くじかんはん　ぐらい　かかりました。　それから、　山田さんの　りょうでも　たのしい　おんがくを　きいて　あそびました。　

でも、　今週の　月曜日まで　ぜんぶの　しゅくだいを　しました。　しゅくだいは　すごくて　よかったです。　どうして　山田さんは　あのしゅくだいを　ぜんぶ　しましたか。　わかりません。　わたしは　きのうの　ばんに　しつもんを　して、　こたえを　ききました。　山田さんは　先週の　週末に　ぜんぜん　ねませんでした。

ウェーブサーフィング （Web-surfing）

私は　よく　コンピュータで　ウェーブサーフィングを　します。かいものに　たくさん　いって、　インタネーットで　かわいい　ものを　みます。

今日　http://stuff.icanhascheezburger.com/ で　「ramen ring」が　ありました。そして、 きのう　「cup noodles humidifier」が　ありました。それから、　おとといに　スウェットシャートが　ありました。

サンクスギビングの 休み （Thanksgiving Break）

こんばんは　みなさん！　 みなさんの　休みは　どうでしたか。


は　キャンパスで　いました。　たくさんの　ともだちは　うちに　かえりましたから、　私は　さびしかったです。　でも　私のともだち　リーさんと　ザークさんが　いましたから、　たくさん　あそびました。

せいかつ

せんしゅうの　しゅうまつに　たくさん　学生かいかんに　いきました。　きんよう日は　とても　いそがしかったです。　じゅぎょうから　ばんごはんまで　クラースメートと　あいました。　そして　しゅくだいを　しました。　でも、じゅういちじに　ともだちと　いっしょうに　ええがを　みました。　どよう日に　フットボールゲームに　いきませんでした。　そして　ざんえんでした。　でも　学生かいかんで　ゴメスさんに　あいました。　そして　だいじょうぶでした。　日よう日に　しゅくだいと　べんきょうを　しました。

私のまち

わたしの　まちは　ニュータウンです。　ニュータウンは　ペンシルバニアに　あります。　ニュータウンに　とても　ふるい　えいがかんと　わたしの　学校が　あります。　せんしゅうの　しゅうまつに　あそこで　りょうしんと　かんこくの　ええがを　みました。ニュータウンは　ちさいがら、りっぱな　まちです。

せんしゅうの　しゅうまつ　わたしは　にほんごと　びじねすを　べんきょうしみした。どようび　ごご　じゅうにじに　ひるごはんを　たべました。そして、ともだちの　りょうの　へやで　ほんを　よみました。　さんじはんに　フットボールゲームを　テレビで　みました。ゲームが　たのしいでせんでした。ほんとに　かなしいでした。

にちようび　あさ　くじに　おきました。　そして　じゅうじはんに　きょうかいへ　いきました。　さんじに　アーカペッラグルプと　うたうしました。　ろくじに　ばんごはんを　たべました。　そして、　しゅくだいを　しました。

I recently became very interested in the late Japanese artist Nujabes. He recently passed away, but his music seems to have just entered my life. I really like the fact that his tracks are not necessarily traditional songs with verses and lyrics, but they are combinations of words, beats, and melody that work together to intricately pull on my heartstrings. Interestingly, I first heard his beats while watching a Korean hiphop/bboy(?) member (Wassup from Prepix) dance to his song “Still Talking to You”.'

Although I admire the smooth dancing very much and could watch forever, the music was so chill that I searched for more information on the beatmaker. Recently, I found that Nujabes also made the soundtrack for the anime “Samurai Champloo” which I recently started getting into over the summer (entire season 1 free on YouTube!). I don’t know if I have a definite favorite yet because all of them sound so good, but I tend to lean toward the tracks with a nice beat combined with a bit of jazzy piano and a subtle voice integrated. Right now, I'm listening the most to "Aruarian Dance" and "Still Talking to You". I’m still searching, so if any of you guys like Nujabes already or think you’ll like his music, tell me your favorites! (Right now, I’m listening to "Kumomi")

First Impressions

はじめまして everybody！

My name is Jane Park, and I'm a sophomore from Pennsylvania. I spent my school years learning French and improving my Korean. However, I'm excited to finally learn Japanese; I spent a significant amount of middle school and high school watching anime and reading manga books. I'd consider it a great feat to be able to read books and watch anime without constantly searching for translations or subtitles. I love the way the language sounds, and I think learning it might even help me in improving my Korean or having some exposure to Chinese characters. Right now, I'm thrilled simply by having memorized a few hiragana characters, but I hope to quickly learn to speak, read, and write at a proficient level.

My parents, especially my mom, grew up strongly opposing the Japanese because of their tense history with Korea. I hope to bridge that gap and improve relations between people of both nationalities on a personal level. I also hope to visit or study abroad in Japan sometime during my college career (business undecided) or through my profession because it would open my eyes to another amazing part of the world. Speak to me in Japanese if we see each other on campus! I might not understand, but that's how the gift of awkwardness was invented.
